No Money? No Time? No Problem! Cheap, Quick Workouts for Students

shadow girl runningWe all know — and fear — the freshman 15. Students gain weight in college because of their busy schedules, and getting a personal trainer or buying workout equipment is expensive. Below I have listed the top five workouts that are both convenient and cheap.

5. Bicycling

Many colleges do not allow students to bring cars their first year of school, so why not bike? Not only is this a great way of transportation to and from class, but it’s also a great workout and fits right into your busy schedule.

4. Swimming

If your campus has a pool, you can have fun with friends and still get a great workout. Swim a few laps if you can, and if you can’t, it’s good to just wade around or tread water. Overall, moving around in the water is good for cardio exercise and toning your body.

3. Running

Living on campus gives you a great place to run in your spare time. The great thing about running is: it’s free! Not to mention, you can do it anywhere – on a treadmill, outside, indoor and outdoor tracks, in the park, down the street, wherever you’d like. Running is a great workout, and- when using the proper posture -it is also great toning for the tummy, legs, and arms.

2. Toning Exercises

Toning exercises can be done in your own dorm room. Squats, push-ups, and crunches can all be done while watching TV or even studying. Fifteen minutes per day will show definite results.

1. Yoga

This is a great workout because it’s great for toning and cardio. No matter if you’re overweight, thin, or muscular, you can do it. It can be done in the comfort of your dorm room and is one of the only workouts that is good for cardio, toning, and emotional health. It is perfect for a college student.

Keep these exercises in mind if you dread the freshman fifteen. It’s not easy starting a new workout routine, but it can be beneficial!
