A little romantic surprise is never a bad thing in a relationship! The two of you have spent a lot of time together and should know each other inside out! So, it’s going to be easier than ever to put together something you know they’re going to enjoy.

However, sometimes we’re pushed for time or simply don’t have the resources to put on the surprise we really wanted. In that case, it’s time for plan B!

Maybe your partner has just got a promotion and you want them to know you’re proud? Perhaps your partner has just become a parent, and you want to show your appreciation for them in a really special way?

Or maybe, and as the title of this post suggests, you just want to remind someone you love them? Well, we’ve got some fun ways to do so below – make sure you keep them in mind if you’re out of ideas or want to make the surprise extra special.

Let Them Know You’re Thinking of Them

One of the best things you can do right now, even just this moment, is to let your loved ones know you’re thinking about them. A little note left in the kitchen can do the trick; once they come home or walk in to make a coffee, they’ll see it and it’ll bring a smile to their face.

However, if you really want to go bigger and better, it’s a good idea to head out and buy them something they’d love. And this can be done totally naturally too! For example, grabbing their favorite snack from the store on your way home, or seeing an advert for something you know they want and then rushing out to get it.

Tell them you’ll be back in a minute, or you’ll be a couple of minutes late home (if need be) and then walk in with something that’ll make their whole month! They’ll know you’ve been thinking of them, and when your partner knows they’re on your mind, or that you ‘see’ them in their day-to-day surroundings, they’ll feel more loved than ever.

Get Ready for a Dinner Date

A dinner date is something you can get dressed up and go out for, but you can also bring the dinner date to you as well. Lay the table at home, make sure there are some lit candles to go with it, and then either order in or put your own cooking skills to good use.

Something a bit special and on the pricey side will always go down well, but a simple plate of spaghetti will also be absolutely lovely. After all, the dinner date isn’t just about the dinner – it’s about the two of you coming together and enjoying each other’s company.

And trust us, you don’t have to wait for an anniversary to do that! Even if it’s a Thursday night and you both have to be up early for work, you can do a special dinner for the two of you. Set the mood just right and it won’t matter if you’re even just sharing a cake together!

Make Valentine’s Day Special

Speaking of dates, Valentine’s Day is a traditional celebration for couples like you, and you’ve got the chance to really push the boat out for it this year. This is especially true if you decided you’re ‘not doing presents’ this year – surprise your loved one with one or two Valentine’s Day Gifts and you’ll already set the year off right!

But if the two of you really love Valentine’s Day, make sure you do something bigger and better this year. And seeing as there’s a good chance you haven’t been able to celebrate for a while now, this year is going to be extra wonderful no matter what you do!

So have dinner over romantic candlelight at home, go out for a long walk along the beach together, indulge your inner children and build a fort together – anything that’s a bit special, and plenty romantic, is going to make this year a great one for the two of you!

Let Them Relax

How much does your partner do? Maybe they work 40 or more hours a week, and then come home to keep the house in good order too? They’re probably an incredibly lovely person who always has time for other people.

Are they always on their feet and never get time to sit down? Maybe you just love them so much you hate seeing them working without a break?

No matter what your partner does, if you want to surprise them with something loving, put together a relaxing day for them. Make sure they take a break, kick back, and even throw in a couple of free massages.

Turn on Netflix and breeze through a boxset, order in and prevent yourselves from ever setting foot in the kitchen – be a bit lazy together, but ultimately, just shut out the outside world and have a relaxing time for just the two of you.

Hide Something in the House for Them to Find

Romantic scavenger hunts are great for people in long-term relationships. Maybe you want to surprise them with a gift, or maybe you’re planning an early night for the two of you – get the evening going by setting up a scavenger hunt throughout the house where their gift is waiting in the bedroom for them, even if it’s just you laying on the bed… It’ll be a lot of fun, it’ll get the two of you in the mood, and it’ll certainly make a memory for the both of you!

If you struggle to write out your own riddles, and you’re not sure how to put the clues together, you can head online to use a rhyming dictionary. Or you can do away with the riddles altogether and leave little cryptic pictures or items around for the person to have to associate correctly. You’re planning to take them from room to room here so try to layout at least 4 to 5 clues to really get the excitement pumping.

Plan a Little Road Trip

And finally, maybe it’s time to just throw some stuff in the back of the car and get on the road? If you know your partner wants to visit a certain place, or they haven’t been able to get away in a while, tell them to grab some snacks and then climb into the passenger seat. It’ll be nice for the both of you to spend some time together, just the two of you, in an unknown place.

After all, you get to enjoy this brand new experience together, and you might even get to see another side of your partner you’re not used to – it’s actually quite lovely to meet the dimensions of your loved one you’re not accustomed to. Make sure you don’t go too far, and you won’t have to book off any time for it – this is a little yet big way to just force the outside world away, and something spontaneous is always a good way to recharge the batteries.

If you want your partner to know how loved they are, simply put a surprise for them together. Make sure they’ve got some free time and then plan for it – something small can go a long way and shows them just how much you pay attention to their life and needs. What could be better?
