I have been writing for Miss Millennia Magazine for about four months now. And there’s something I’ve been keeping from all of you.

I am a massive beauty junkie.

Like, seriously. I own 300+ shades of eye shadow. 7+ foundations. Enough mascaras and lip products that I can’t even count.

And that’s just the makeup. My hoard of skincare products is equally as impressive. Or embarrassing, depending on how you want to look at it.

I’ve been into beauty and skincare since high school which means that I’m going on 10 years of this obsession (oh Lord I don’t even feel like I’ve been alive that long). I particularly get really pumped about beauty and skincare right around this time of year – with holidays come holiday parties and with holiday parties comes awesome makeup! In my 10 years of beauty experience, I’ve learned quite a few tips and tricks that make this beauty and skincare life even better. Have no fear, I’m going to share them all with you!

Exfoliate

First of all, good makeup starts with great skincare. If your skin isn’t on point, your makeup won’t be, either. For me, this has always meant exfoliating well. I have super oily, acne-prone skin and large pores (#blessed). Exfoliating regularly – 1-2 times per week – keeps oil at bay as well as sloughs away the dead skin cells hanging out on your face. All of that chalks up to better, smoother makeup application! Plus doing an exfoliating treatment feels like a great way to treat yourself during this busy time of year. You can make your own exfoliator at home with brown sugar and a little honey or there are plenty of kinds available in stores. Just make sure that your exfoliator is gentle and not too rough!

Prenatal vitamins

Disclaimer: I am not pregnant nor do I intend to become pregnant anytime soon. But I faithfully take Nature Made® Prenatal Multi + DHA vitamins every single morning because it’s amazing for hair, skin, and nails! I absolutely love this brand – Nature Made® is the #1 Pharmacist Recommended brand for many key dietary supplement categories*. That’s important to me because I care about what goes in my body and I don’t trust just any ole brand to make a quality product that I’ll want to consume every day. The Prenatal Multi + DHA has lots of good stuff that support hair, skin, and nails and I can totally attest – my nails have been growing like crazy and my skin is a happy camper.

Sponsored Post Pricing Toolkit

I got my Nature Made vitamins from Walmart which is pretty much my favorite place on earth. I can always find everything I need (and then some). Plus their selection is great! Finding a good vitamin to support a daily beauty regime is no problem at all. And the best part of all: the amazing prices! Walmart isn’t kidding when they talk about their every day low prices. I’m a beauty guru on a budget but I’m also too impatient to clip coupons so I appreciate that I don’t have to clip coupons or wait for a sale to get a great price.

Even if you’re not just shopping for a vitamin that will support your beauty regime, I highly suggest checking out Nature Made at Walmart. Nature Made® has a variety of vitamins, minerals, and supplements (VMS) to help support nutritional gaps with your health goals in mind ranging from Digestive Support, Heart Health & Function, Energy Metabolism, Women’s Health and much more!†

Oh and good news: you’ve got a chance to win one of 60 Walmart $50 gift cards! Just visit this website for your chance to win! And then use your winnings to go buy some Nature Made®!

Bottom line: prenatal vitamins are amazing for hair, skin, and nails. And Nature Made® is amazing for prenatal vitamins. And in this crazy holiday season, finding a good balance for your beauty regime is crucial!

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

Another important piece of a good beauty regime is staying hydrated because water is seriously a magical juice. Drinking water flushes out sodium and toxins that lead to puffy eyes, dark circles, and even fine lines and wrinkles. Plus staying hydrated keeps your lips plumper and will definitely help you to feel better overall. AND it combats dry skin. In these winter months, dry skin is the last thing you want on your face (don’t get me started on the patchy makeup application that comes with dry skin). Like the Nature Made® prenatal vitamins, drinking water is such an easy way to take care of your body overall plus have a positive impact on your beauty and skincare so you’re winning all around.

Sunscreen

A good sunscreen is crucial for every girl’s skincare routine.

Let me repeat myself.

A good sunscreen is crucial for every girl’s skincare routine.

You need sunscreen 365 days/year! Most people only think of sunscreen in the summer months when the sun is beating down and you spend more time outside. But realistically, sunscreen is a basic step in a skincare routine that shouldn’t be skipped even during these winter months. If you don’t think you’re not getting that much sun exposure, however, think about the time you spend behind the windshield driving to and from work, walking in between buildings, and even just sitting on your couch as the sun streams in. Finding a good facial sunscreen is so so important to prevent premature aging associated with sun exposure. I personally found my favorite at Walmart (shocker). I like to get my moisturizer and sunscreen done in one step so I use a one-and-done moisturizer with SPF 15 built right in.

You don’t need a super high SPF for daily wear. Actually, I wouldn’t recommend anything over about SPF 25 or 30 for every day because anything higher will flash back in photos (meaning you’ll see a white cast all over your face in flash photos). You’ll reap the benefits of a daily sunscreen in about 15 years when all your friends are trying to find a good wrinkle cream 😉

The high points

I’m sharing some real gold nuggets here, people, so let’s recap what I shared:

-Exfoliate your face and get rid of those yucky dead skin cells!

– Nature Made® vitamins and supplements: An easy, convenient way to help your body get the nutritional support it needs every day, whether it be to support bone health, immune health or energy metabolism (helping convert food into energy).† I especially recommend the Prenatal Multi + DHA to support your beauty regime! Plus don’t forget to enter the sweepstakes for your chance to win one of 60 $50 Wal-mart gift cards!

-Drink more water than you think you should and stop covering up those purple circles under your eyes.

-SPF every dang day.

There you have it, folks! May your skin be merry and bright and may all your makeup be just right.
