How to Pack for the Holidays like a Boss [Video]
Whether you’re traveling overseas or just heading back to your hometown, you want to make sure you’ve packed everything that you need. You’re not going to want to pack to the point you’ve got a bag weighing 20 pounds, but you want to pack enough, so you do not have to buy essentials. It shouldn’t matter how long you’re going to be traveling, packing light and smart will work in any instance. In this video, I show you exactly what I packed for a five-day vacation in Paris.
1. You’re going to need the perfect bag.
You can get a cheap bag at any major retail store. The bag can’t be more than 56cm x 46cm x 25cm. Most bags deemed “carry on” should meet this standard. But I recommend the Grand Traveler Bag from Vera Bradley. Not only is the bag ridiculously trendy, but it also has so many pockets, you’re going to stay organized throughout your trip. You can buy the same bag I have or another one to your liking here.
2. Don’t forget your passport and wallet.
Make sure you let your banks know you’re going to be traveling, so they don’t shut your card down when you try to use it.
3. Keep your cosmetics and toiletries is small bags.
In my cosmetic bag, I only packed one lipstick, eyeliner, and a little bottle of perfume. For my toiletries, I packed my shampoo, body wash, facial scrub and a tiny teeny deodorant. If you’re heading home, you’re probably not going to be needing any shampoo or body wash (Mom has got you covered). And if you’re staying in a hotel, you could get luckily and have those endless little shampoos and body washes. But I was staying at an apartment that didn’t offer it.
4. Your gadgets.
This almost goes without saying, but you can’t forget your charger. I even brought a portable one. If you’re traveling overseas, you’re going to need a converter. I also brought headphones for the flight so I wouldn’t have to worry about listening to a baby crying on the flight.
5. Pack only the essential clothing.
I knew I was going to wear a coat, so my shirt wasn’t going to matter. But I wanted to be comfortable since I knew we were going to be walking. So I packed two pairs of leggings, five t-shirt dresses, and one cardigan. I packed comfortable pj’s, another bra, socks, and panties. I packed them separately into Forever 21 bags (they’re very sturdy) and tied them shut; it just adds another layer of organization to your bag.
And if you follow these steps completely, you’re not going to have any problems. Have any other tips and tricks? Got a tutorial you need to see? Leave them in the comments below!
