Budget #LikeaGirl: Interview with Victoria Mason

Victoria Mason, from The Budget Divaa, is definitely one of a kind. Her spunky attitude and fashionista tips are not only brilliant but also perfect for us Millennials. That is why it was a pleasure to interview Victoria for the next installment of Miss Millennia’s #LikeaGirl interview series.
Miss Millennia Magazine: Tell me a little about yourself!
Victoria Mason: I may be a blogger by night, but by day I’m a senior in college pursuing a degree in Event Management! When I’m not hitting the books, I’m mainly hanging out with the girls trying to find a new spot with some great food and music. I’m an introvert, for the most part, but when I do go out I like to think of myself as a very lively and fun person to be around.
M3: What made you want to create Budget Divaa?
VM: I initially started my blog because I always received questions from people regarding what I’m wearing or how I did my makeup. One day, I thought to myself why not have a blog that has all my fashion finds and beauty tips on it for the world to see? So, the Budget Divaa was born. Since, I’ve expanded the scope of my blog while making it more personal with posts including some of my traveling escapades and more.
M3: What has been one of your biggest struggles and how did you overcome it?
VM: With my blog, my biggest struggle has really been to be consistent. When I started it was easier to not do a post once a week because I hadn’t grown my blog to the caliber that it is now, but now I do have a following that expects content to be put out on the regular. Although still working on my consistency with blogging, I have made small adjustments to become more organized so that consistency is more of a reality for my site. Pre-planning posts, guest posting, and scheduling social media posts have really aided me with this struggle.
M3: What’s your inspiration?
VM: My inspiration is really powerful women who continue to want more. Seeing a woman creating her empire really inspires me to continue to work hard for what I want and to be creative in what I do. There are so many women in the world who have built their brand off of their creativity, so seeing that shows me that I can be outside-of-the-box and still succeed.
M3: What does it take to be a Budget Divaa?
VM: To be a Budget Divaa, one must really flaunt their own personal style while always making sure her bank account is in check. A true Budget Divaa is able to balance these two things and gets creative with the clothing and makeup she already has! Ultimately, she’s a stylish diva who never breaks the bank.
M3: Any tips for women who want to be fashionable and financially responsible?
VM: One of my biggest tips is that if you see something you really want that’s full retail price, wait. I’ve seen the rush of wanting something get to so many women, when in all reality that the same item will more than likely be on sale or
discounted in the upcoming weeks. I actually had this happen recently with a dress I wanted that was $40, but wound up on a sales rack in my size for $18. Steals will keep you fashionable and financially afloat, ladies! So, unless it’s a steal or a one-time-present-to-myself purchase, wait until a sale, discount, or coupon comes your way.
M3: Top advice for a millennial woman?
VM: Don’t be afraid to balance and dive into different areas that you love! I think this is what makes millennial woman so unique because we all seem to be so multifaceted with employment, personal lives and hobbies. There are women who are young moms while going to school, working, have an internship and blogging on the side. As long as you love all things that you do, there’s nothing wrong with having a number of responsibilities on your plate. These areas truly make you the beautiful woman that you are and will definitely help grow your overall network.
