4 Ways to Cut Calories in Your Diet Without Sacrificing Taste

In any weight-loss journey, it takes some adjustments in your lifestyle overall. Fad diets are tough and can have long-term negative effects on your body including gaining more weight than you started with. For these reasons, I make a point to make smaller (and easier) adjustments in my day to day eating habits so that I do lose weight and manage a healthier lifestyle overall. Here are 4 ways I cut down on calories.

Opt to drink water instead of soda

So no matter how tempting, I do not order soda when I go out to eat. I get the added bonus of knowing I just saved myself about 2 bucks at dinner every time I go out (#winning.) I also make sure not to bring soda in our house either, so it is pretty much a no-brainer for me to pass on it. While this may seem small, drinking just one soda a day could make a huge difference in your weight-loss. Just cutting out soda could mean you losing an extra 15 lbs over the course of a year. It could mean even more if you drink more than one a day.

Use water to sauté your veggies instead of oil

I first heard of sautéing your veggies in water instead of oil when I read The End of Dieting by Joel Fuhrman. I didn’t think it was possible to do until I made my own veggie fried rice without a drop of oil in the pan. I was amazed and delighted in the extra 239 calories from only 2 Tbsps of Olive Oil I am not eating in my meal. Oil can be such a waste of calories in your meals because chances are you can’t even taste it, but you are still taking in the calories. Do yourself a favor and opt for water here too.

Cut the Occasional Carb when you can

This one can be a little difficult for me because I love carbs especially the bad ones, which is why I am now trying to lose weight. But when it comes down to it, I don’t have to eat every carb. If you are at a restaurant and they sit the bread down, make a choice to not eat it. Or go crazy on the bread and eat a salad and not a burger and fries. Carbs are okay, even the bad ones sometimes; But if you make a conscious effort to cut some of them, you will see a change in your weight loss.

Use Born Sweet® Zing™ Stevia Sweetener in your Coffee and Tea in the morning

I am not really much of a fan of coffee, but it is something I NEED to function in the morning. Therefore the idea of drinking it black is not an option for me. Which is why I add a little bit of Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener to my coffee. What I love about Zing™ is that it only has real ingredients-nothing artificial, since it comes from the stevia plant. While it is good for smoothies, tea, fruit, etc., I find it to be just perfect for me to make my coffee bearable to drink without adding extra calories. Another bonus about Zing™ Stevia Sweetener is that they are giving away free samples to Miss Millennia Magazine Readers. Grab your freebie here.

Losing weight can be as simple as a few small lifestyle changes like the ones I mentioned above. It does not have to be something dramatic and painful. Yes, weight-loss is hard because, on top of cutting those things out above, you have to exercise and find some other bad stuff in your diet to cut out eventually too. But the bonus is actually losing weight and having yourself to thank for sticking it, though. Good for you for taking the steps needed for a healthier lifestyle.
