We create a fitness regime with the best of intentions – to make our bodies stronger and healthier. However, often after a few weeks of sticking to our workout plans, we start to lose motivation. Of course, some workout plans are undoable in the long-term, which is why after a few weeks we end up quitting them.

However, most workout regimes simply require a little motivation to be stuck to. Sometimes, it can seem like motivation is almost impossible to find. However, with the right mindset and a selection of goals in place, it doesn’t have to be.

To give you a few ideas for finding workout inspiration, we’ve put together five useful ideas. Hopefully, these will give you the motivation and drive that you need, to stick to your workout regime.

1. Put a date on your fitness goals.

Without a date on it, a goal is just a dream. If you want to ensure that you meet your fitness goals, you need to put a date on them. By having a date for when you need to achieve something by, this gives you a drive to keep working hard. If there’s no date on your fitness goals, you’ll find that it’s much easier to lose momentum.

2. Sign up to a marathon.

An excellent way to put pressure on yourself to ensure that you meet your goals is by signing up to a sports event, like a marathon. Or if a marathon is too much, a fun run or half marathon could be a better option. You can find out about various sports events like marathons, fun runs, and half marathons for 2016, by having a browse online. If you sign up to something, you’ll be twice as likely to stay motivated.

3. Find a workout buddy.

Want to stay motivated? What you need is a workout buddy. If you have someone to exercise with, you’ll find that you’re happier to stick to your workout regime. This is partly, because you don’t want to let your exercise buddy down, and also because you don’t want to be known as a quitter. Team up with a friend who’s also trying to get fit and aim to motivate and encourage each other. Working out is always more fun when you do it with a friend.

4. Pay for fitness classes in advance.

Whether you choose to workout at the gym or take classes, your best bet for staying motivated is to pay in advance. Aim to pay for a six-week block of classes or a gym membership, so that you have to workout. If you’re paying for something, you’ll be more inclined to use it. That’s why paying in advance for your gym or classes, is a great idea if you want to stay motivated.

5. Track your progress.

One of the most common causes of losing workout motivation is due to not realizing how far you’ve come. If you take the time to track your progress, you can use this to motivate yourself. Every time that you don’t feel like hitting the gym, you can use the progress you’ve already made to drive yourself to keep going. For this, there are various smartphone apps you can use, as well as a range of smartwatches that you can invest in.

As you can see, when it comes to workout motivation, there are plenty of options for ensuring that you stay on track.
