New Year Cheat Meals-How to do it in Style

At the start of a new year, you may plan to diet or eat healthy to maintain your shape and stay healthy. For some, the change is instant. Choosing to diet does not mean that you cannot enjoy the comfort foods you were fond of before.

You can substitute some healthy foods into your plate to add flavor to your meals and satisfy the cravings you get often. The foods you select have to support your fitness goal by not trashing your plan to lose weight.

Here are some yummy cheat meals you can introduce to your plate!

1. Pizza

Pizza is a family meal loved by many. You can modify it by making the wheat crust very thin and using vegetable toppings instead of the usual ones.

Use olive oil to cook your pizza since it’s healthier and if you must have cheese, you can substitute it for some light shaving of parmesan or low-fat mozzarella.

Some good meat options for your pizza are lean proteins like chicken breast or prime bone-in ribeye.

2. Burger

We all love a good burger. In this case, try using ground turkey or lean ground beef.

Use very little mayonnaise and use buns that are whole grain, which is good for your fitness regimen. Don’t forget the usual vegetables. You can opt to go bun-free or use just the lower bun on your burger.

3. French Fries

French fries are a craving you cannot ignore. If so, swap the usual potato fries with fries made using sweet potatoes.

Preparation is also key. You should use an air dryer or you can spread them on a baking sheet and lightly apply oil on them. Serve your fries with guacamole to add flavor.

4. Granola

 Granolas are traditionally made with oats and nuts. For your breakfast option, you can have a bowl of granola with some low-fat milk.

Make sure to check the brand label though because some granolas are highly saturated with fats.

5. Bran Muffin

Bran muffins are made with great healthy ingredients like walnuts, blueberries, honey. It has high fiber and nuts and fruit which provide plenty of healthy fats and antioxidants.

When shopping, look out for reduced fat bran muffins. You can serve it with some cold milk or a latte.

6. Chips and guacamole

Chips and guacamole are an ideal snack for your movie nights or as you relax in the evening. Avocado is rich in healthy fats and contains antioxidants.

You can substitute the tortilla chips with Belgian endive. Add peppers and cucumbers to keep your meal spicy.

7. Pancakes

 Freshly made whole grain pancakes are a delight, topped with maple syrup. You can serve it with yogurt and some fresh berries for your breakfast.

8. Pasta

Use whole wheat to make your spaghetti healthier and lean meat for your meatballs. You can add grated parmesan to make your dish flavorful.

Dieting does not have to be a burden, you can satisfy your cravings with cheat meals while sticking to your diet plan. However, try not to indulge too much and remember not to cheat when you are very hungry.
