Runway fashion and everyday fashion seem to be two completely different worlds. The extreme looks designers sometimes feature on their runways do not always translate into our everyday work and play attire. Finding a balance between high fashion and wearable fashion can be somewhat of a pain, but one of the key components is to take statement pieces and work around them. Below are several upcoming Fall trends that are completely workable into your everyday wardrobe.
These are definitely not your mama’s house-coats! Major fashion designers are creating robes that have all the comfort of a bathrobe and housecoat, and combine them with the cutting edge look of high fashion. If you are planning to attend an indoor event where keeping your coat on is not necessary, it can be worn with whatever the event calls for. However, if you are planning on keeping a robe coat on for the entirety of an event, make sure each piece complements one another. Peep-toe heels, booties, and wedge heels are all acceptable footwear with a robe coat. As far as pants or skirts are concerned, either will do!
The decade is making a comeback in terms of fashion, so be on the lookout for big polka dots and miniskirts. Large, busy prints can be paired with a neutral top or bottom. Keep proportions in mind when pairing your retro pieces with modern pieces. Mixing prints can give your outfit a pop if done right, however if the prints clash too much, it can become a disaster. While the prints may be a little more modern, the feminine touch of the 60’s will be hitting the racks come September.
While this trend is nothing new for the colder months, designers have taken to accentuating the usual turtleneck into the focus piece of the outfit. These larger turtlenecks are paired with anything from slacks to skirts and leggings. This item is likely the most versatile, as it can be dressed up or down and worn with a variety of different pieces.
Like the retro prints, these are easiest worn as accent pieces over solid items. A favorite on the runway were definitely the chunky sweaters. Not only do they come in a variety of fun prints, they are extra comfortable while remaining completely in style. Like turtlenecks, these are paired well with jeans, slacks, skirts, and leggings. Pair them with booties to complete the look.
It is really simple to put together a runway look, so get yourself out there and piece together that signature look.
