Meet Lady Lennia Selena Strickling
Pet Peeve: Flaky people (When you make plans, it is nice to stick to them! I think it is rude to make backup plans with someone else just in case. Your friends should be there when they say they will, unless there is an emergency of course!)
Favorite movie: I love watching action and comedy movies, but my guilty pleasures are romantic movies. My favorite as of now would have to be The Dark Knight Rises, but that will probably change when I see another movie.
It’s that time of year again! Time to go back to school, Graduate School that is. And if you are thinking about continuing your education after undergrad our lady lennia this month Selena Strickling can show you the way. She will be attending Law School this fall and it has not been an easy journey to get to where she is. But like all of our lady lennias, she is pretty awesome! And with that I want to introduce you to Selena Strickling!
What will you be majoring in for graduate school and where will you be attending?
I will be attending law school at University of Toledo’s College of Law
Where did you go for undergrad? When hen did you graduate?
I went to Bowling State University for my undergrad and graduated in December of 2011
What was your area of study in undergrad?
I majored in Political Science and minored in Economics
What is your age?
I am 22 years old (I don’t know exactly when I became an adult, but sometimes I am NOT okay with it! My mother made it look way too easy!)
What has been your biggest struggle in achieving your goals? How are you overcoming it?
My biggest struggle in achieving my goals was believing in myself. I was an extremely confident person throughout high school. I was a varsity runner in track and cross-country and played on the junior varsity team for basketball, but I had to have open heart surgery my senior year due to a tumor. That was probably the hardest thing I have ever had to do. It showed me how weak a human can become. I wasn’t in control of my life anymore and that terrified me. I went to the counseling center at my college and started seeing that surgery may have made me vulnerable at the time, but now I am stronger than ever. I am now using it as a positive motivator instead of viewing it in a negative way like I did previously. Honestly, I’d have to say having a pretty cool scar down the middle of your chest is a great conversation starter when you don’t know many people so oddly enough it helped me meet new people as well.
What inspires you?
My family inspires me. We clash in personalities most of the time, but we all know we love and are extremely supportive of one another. Everyone in my family has accomplished so much; it has pushed me to try my best at everything I attempt.
If you were selected for this contest would you be able to write 3-5 short blog posts a week?
I am pretty sure I could.
What would you write about for the blog?
Myself and how I am adjusting to law school and the process of apply and selecting a school.
Do you feel like you can inspire women in their 20′s and 30′s? If so how would you go about doing this?
I don’t know if I can inspire others, but I would love to try. I try to do my best at everything I attempt and in the process make a few people smile on the way and I would like to convince others to try the same.
Who does Lady Lennia represent to you?
A woman doing something positive with her life. There is so much negative in the world it is nice to see some positivity. You don’t have to do something huge in life to make a difference.
Why would you make a great Lady Lennia for the Back to School edition?
I’d like to believe I am doing something positive with my life by going to law school and maybe could inspire others to pursue their goals.
