Lady Lennia Chelsea Palumbo:
The Pros and Cons of going to graduate school at the same college as your undergraduate:
The positive aspects of attending graduate school at the same college you received your undergraduate is knowing all your professors. You will know what each teacher expects when it comes to homework and exams. It may be stricter and harder, but you can get a very clear sense of what they expect from you. You are not a stranger to them, and therefore you can carry on your positive relationship that you started in undergraduate. Also, they know how to respond to you. They know your common mistakes and also know how “to grade you” because they know you better. You understand the campus and the different clubs you can be involved in. And the final reason is that you won't have to move to a different city, you can renew your lease or find a new apartment. If you had a job, you can even keep that!
The new students coming in from other schools will notice that you went to that school and may start thinking the well marks you get are out of favoritism. Even though people say it doesn't matter what others think, no one likes to be discredited for the work they do. Another negative is not broadening your horizons, if you stay in the safety net of your alma mater you will not learn much more culturally. It is always good to go to a new places to build up courage, to meet new people, and to learn about a new place. The last con of going to graduate school where you went to undergraduate is if you had any negative relationships with teachers that could inhibit your doing and giving your best. It would be in poor taste to let any negative aspects get in away of the great things you can do.
Your Lady Lennia,
