I think everybody dreams of having the perfect career. How do you define that term? I think the perfect career is something you love, that allows you to live comfortably. It isn’t all about being stinking rich! What’s the point in having loads of money if you hate your job? Your job takes up the majority of your days, so it makes no sense to spend them doing something you hate. If you’re stuck at a bit of a crossroads, read on to find your perfect career:
Understand What You Are Passionate About
You need to do a bit of soul searching before you can find your perfect career. You need to understand what you’re truly passionate about. You can do this by asking yourself a few questions. Start off with questions like:
- What makes me lose track of time?
- What would I do if money wasn’t an issue?
- What was I interested in as a child?
- What are my loves and hobbies?
- What do I feel most comfortable doing?
When you’ve asked yourself questions like this, write down your answers. You will then be able to spot patterns and come up with ideas!
Come Up With a List of Possibilities
Now it’s time to come up with a list of possibilities. Try to think of any way you can merge some of your passions into one. There will be multiple jobs to suit your skills, loves, and dream life. You just have to come up with the ideas and then go with them! Brainstorm and think of as many ideas as you can. It might sound silly, but you can also do quizzes online to help you. Many of them are accurate and can give you lots of ideas!
Try Volunteering, Test Jobs Where Possible
For some of your jobs, you may be able to volunteer or do some weekend work. This is a great opportunity to try it out before you commit to anything and see if it’s really for you. It might seem like you’d like something on paper, but in reality, you hate it! Rowlands Recruitment could help you to find a placement, or at least give you a few ideas for jobs.
Come Up With a Plan
When you think you know what you’ll enjoy, it’s time to come up with a plan. How will you go about getting the career of your dreams? Everybody has to start somewhere, so you’ll need a long term plan and a short term plan. You may need to start out working somewhere you don’t like that much to get to where you want to be. The important thing is that you keep your long term goal in mind! If you’re determined, you’ll always get to where you want to be.
When trying to find your perfect career, treat it as a job in itself. Set a few hours aside to research, brainstorm, and come up with a plan. Don’t just expect it to happen. I hope you enjoyed these tips – come back soon for more!
