In my previous article, I started listing off some Facebook no-nos. Listed below are more things that are annoying on Facebook that should end as soon as possible:
Conversations on Your Status
Statuses are meant to make a comment and move on. A comment or two after is fine, but when people are having small talk in a status, it’s pretty annoying. Send a message, or use the chat function. Everyone does not want to read your conversation. Keep it private.
Invites to Applications
Many people do not know this, but there was a time when there were no applications on Facebook. Actually, most of the first Facebook users find application invites annoying. I do not want to fight you in “Mafia Wars” or water your garden. A lot of these invites come from my aunts, uncles, and other older family members, and then I feel guilted into accepting. I do not like it.
Drama in the Status
I once read a status from a guy who was angry at his girlfriend who, instead of telling her it was over, wrote it in his Facebook status. She read it, replied, and they began arguing via the status. It had to be one of the most ridiculous things I had ever seen. Why can’t they just pick up a phone and call? Why does the entire Facebook world have to view them arguing? Grow up, and use common sense. All it does it make you look dumb.
Talking to People Who Are Not on Facebook in Status
Shout-outs to someone who just died or shout-outs to a baby are just pointless. I feel like people usually do it for attention, and it is more offensive to that person. The only way you can pay a person respect is through a Facebook status? This is something that, for many, changes several times throughout the day.
Revealing Information on Your Wall
Secrets are secret for a reason. Do not tell someone something no one else knows on their Facebook wall for the world to see. There are several private ways to communicate on Facebook. Do not put people’s exclusive information on their walls where everyone can read it.
Don’t Bring Twitter to Facebook
Ever since the emergence of Twitter, many people have confused the two. Twitter is a place where people can update their status every minute of the day. Facebook is not. People are on Facebook changing their statuses every two minutes, but this useless information shows on everyone’s home page every time you do it. Cool out everyone. No one really cares what you ate for breakfast.
