Lady Lennia Blog: Asthmatic kids during the hot summer…
The past few days have been really hot. I have had to make sure to pack drinks for the kids and water for myself, as well as to make sure my daughter didn't get too hot. Jasmine, my youngest, has asthma, so the heat is her enemy. As for my oldest, she just tans really fast, but to date no sunburns. I make sure to keep sunscreen stocked along with aloe vera gel just in case of a sunburn. We live right on the beach, but rarely go due to the heat. If we do go outside it tends to be later in the day to avoid the heat and asthma attacks.
I have found so many other things to do with my little asthmatic bambino to keep her away from the heat. The library, mall play areas, play dates at someone’s house, and movies are all good sources of daytime entertainment. We find ways to enjoy the summer without the extra doctor or emergency room trips. Also very good news, my eldest daugther’s tooth came out, can you say “snaggletooth?!” Oddly enough, with her two top front teeth missing she doesn’t have a lisp.
Overall, this Memorial Day weekend was pretty sweet, not to mention the extra day off to sleep in and just be home. I would also like to take the time to scream at the top of my lungs YAY GAS PRICES ARE GOING DOWN. And don’t forget it may be hot, but let’s remember to still exercise, stay hydrated with water and vitamin replacement beverages (avoid caffeine), use sunscreen, and if asthmatic stay out the heat and pack your pump.
