A lot of us start our own blogs to share our life with the world. Whether we have a special interest, a lot of experience, or some opinions to share on the way we live our lives, a blog is a great outlet. But some of us know just how lucrative blogging can be. People can make an extra income upwards of $100 in their very first month, and the number only rolls upwards from there.

But if you’ve just started a blog of your own, and you don’t think it’s worth very much, we’re here to convince you otherwise. You’ve heard all of the success stories and you always thought you’d have the chance to hit it big too, and that’s exactly what you’re going to do!

Just make sure you keep the tips below in mind as you go.

Know Your Affiliates

Affiliate marketing isn’t something you have to work your way up to. You can work with quite a few affiliate programs as soon as you get your first post out – whoever comes across the article and reads through it is going to be exposed to these links, and even if only 2 or 3 people are reading right now, one of them is likely to click through.

As such, it’s a good idea to use affiliate links as often as possible. No matter what you’re writing about, you can pop a link in there to a product page that a person can use to both buy what they’re after and also grant you a portion of the sale. And remember, when a person uses an affiliate link, if they stay on the same page and continue shopping, you get a cut of everything else they buy.

Branch Out a Little More

Your blog is going to make you money in the long run, whether you ask people to donate directly or you set up affiliating marketing or you get some sponsorships. But right now it’s not really making you anything, and this could be for a variety of reasons. However, one of the main reasons for this is the fact that few people are reading your pieces; as such, you need to branch out a little more and get your name out there.

And there are many ways to do this, but the best is to do something profitable and long-term that works with your current schedule. For example, as you’ll learn from this article on how to make money online for beginners, there are plenty of jobs that go hand in hand with running your own blog.

And if you’ve got time to push outposts and build a social media following, there’s a very good chance you can also become a virtual assistant part-time, or do a bit of freelance writing here and there. In doing so, you build your name upon both personal and professional websites all over the internet, and that really helps build backlinks to your own work.

Write More Often

Of course, the more content you publish, the more likely people are going to come across your website. Similarly, the more you use SEO to your advantage, the higher Google is going to rank you, leading to more people discovering you, and so on and so forth. It’s a neat little cycle that takes a lot of work, but once you get the ball rolling, your blog can turn into a passive income machine that takes the pressure off of your bank account each month.

So get writing! Whatever your blog is about, make sure you’re publishing content on a regular basis – for most people, that’s once a week. But if you fancy it, you can publish something two or three times a week, or even once a day if you can manage it.

Vary up your content from time to time, and even start writing scripts for videos on Youtube or TikTok, and make sure you’re pushing out other social media content at the right times as well. And if you’re worried about the quality of your content, drop back down a little, and revert to that steady and reliable once-a-week posting. Even though the online world tends to move fast, once a week is usually enough for most readers.

If you’ve just started a blog, enjoy this time! You’ve got a great chance to sculpt this little portion of the internet, and it can make you a lot of money along the way too.
