If you are one of those people who like spending July and August all cushioned up in their comfortable chairs, then you have come to the right place. My favorite time of the day is when I get home from work in the evening, open a big bag of potato chips, and choose TV and have a relationship with Netflix. If you are similar to me and love this kind of relaxation, here is what I recommend you should not miss out during the following few months.
Mad Men
If you are a fan of TV drama, then Mad Men is the right TV show for you. The main plot line is set up around a prestigious ad agency on Madison Avenue in New York of the 1960s. Since the industry is growing and competition becomes ruthless, the agency must survive at the time of the most radical shake-up of the ad industry. The show follows two protagonists, Don Draper (played by Jon Hamm) and Peggy Olson (played by Elizabeth Moss). Don is a self-made executive whose life is mainly influenced by his childhood, whereas Peggy is a former secretary trying to work her way up the ladder. Full of interesting twists, this TV show you should not miss out!
Breaking Bad
Breaking Bad is extremely popular TV show following the life of a freshly-diagnosed lung cancer patient, Walter White (played by Brian Cranston) who wants to secure his family’s finances before he dies. Since he is a high school chemistry teacher and has a background in chemistry, he decides to cook and deal blue meth. His former student, Jesse Pinkman (played by Aaron Paul), is his partner and sidekick, so we follow their day-to-day adventures and family issues in a twist of moral consequences.
BoJack Horseman
When it comes to comedy and animated TV shows, BoJack Horseman is a must-watch. Netflix’s original animated comedy follows the life of a washed up horse(man) who tries to get back to the life of a celebrity. The show features voices of some of the brightest stars, such as Will Arnett, Aaron Paul and Alison Brie. Click on this one next if you want to see this ridiculous comedy and have plenty of hearty laughs in a show about horsing around.
How I Met Your Mother
One of the most famous TV shows ever is back on TV. If you still have not met Ted’s mother,Optus Broadband offers you the chance this summer ! The show consists of nine seasons of ridiculous, dramatic and comedic twists in the life of five protagonists played by Josh Radnor (Ted Mosby), Neil Patrick Harris (Barney Stinson), Alyson Hannigan (Lily Aldrin), Jason Segal (Marshal Eriksen) and the beautiful Cobie Smulders (Robin Scherbatsky). The storyline is set in 2030 New York, and flashing back to the present, when Ted Mosby tells his children the (long) story of how he met their mother.
Doctor Who
If you prefer sci-fi, then Doctor Who is the right show for you. This 26-season long TV series is the longest running sci-fi TV show of all time–and with good reason. The seven seasons of the 2005 remake follow the life of an eccentric yet very intelligent scientist (The Doctor) played by David Tennant. The funny thing about him is that he is a traveller through time and space, so we witness his extremely interesting adventures which are all powered by his time-travelling spaceship called TARDIS.
This is obviously not the end of the list. It goes on and on and on, and even if you do not prefer TV shows, you can find a lot more content on Netflix. If you are a fan of the most famous romantic movies such as Funny Face, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, Pride and Prejudice, Blue Valentine and many more, do not hesitate and take that remote into your control.
HIMYM is one of the greatest shows of all time. I Haven’t seen any of the other ones, though.

My husband LOVES Doctor Who. I will have to see if he knows that they are on Netflix.
My husband is a huge fan of the Doctor Who series. I haven’t watched any of the other shows you mentioned.
I’ve seen several of these, but not all. I can’t wait to check out Doctor Who. I hear SO much about that one!
I’m obsessed with Bojack Horseman. It may be animated, but it is deep and dark.
