There’s nothing better than falling in love, and one of the most exciting times to fall in love is during college. It’s a time of freedom, growth, and exploration. Having a great person there with you just makes it that much better. Here are 5 reasons why falling in love during college is a great idea!
1. It’s College
You’re at a similar time in your life. Wanna talk about tests and how stressful midterms are? Well, your partner can commiserate. They understand what you’re going through, and you both know what to expect. This is also a time to explore yourself as a person in a relationship. You get to see what you need in a relationship at a relatively real-life-free time. Also in college, especially if you’re in a sorority, you’ll need that date for all the formals, parties, and events that pop up. A significant other is an automatic date.
2. Timing
Although this can easily go both ways, falling in love in college is one of the times when you have no responsibilities! That means you have time to go explore, take a weekend trip with your boyfriend to a neighboring state or drive to a different city for dinner. This creates a spontaneous, relaxed, and fun relationship, because your responsibilities are mostly just school, and you can afford to be carefree. After college your life becomes bills, work, and other real life things that I hope I never have to deal with. College is your time to fall in love without all that real world responsibility.
3. Having a Shoulder
Your partner will be your shoulder, a hand to hold, an ear to vent to, and a person who you can always trust and feel comfortable with. They’re also not just a shoulder to cry on, but also a literal shoulder you might need, when you’re trying to balance in your heels, that you can’t really walk in, but you had to have, cause they’re neon pink. They’re there to support you physically and mentally. You can call them if you’re having a bad day, and they’ll always be that shoulder for you to cry on, and that ear to vent to. When you fall in love with someone, they’re usually also you’re best friend. So, that alone means, they’ll always be there for you and they won’t feel like it’s a burden.
4. Cuddling!
Some people may like those casual hookups, but having someone you can call up at anytime for some spooning and cuddling without raising any expectations is, probably, the best part of a relationship. You also don’t have to feel awkward around them at all. You can easily be chilling with them, in sweatpants and no makeup on, doing whatever, and you’ll never have to feel awkward.
5. SEX
College is an incredibly stressful time, and you know what a great stress reliever is? Sex. Anyone can have a casual hookup or a booty call, you dial up at two am, but sex with someone you love— you can’t beat that! Besides that, I mean, it’s sex.
