2 shadow figures arguingAs a college senior facing your last year, you might’ve contemplated deleting a good 1,000 or so friends from Facebook. During those four, five, maybe even six years of undergrad, one will most likely experience lots of drama from lots of people they’d prefer not to bring along into the real world. The next step for most is to ask the question, “How do I free myself from pointless and negative relationships?” Well, here are some steps you can follow to help you do just that.

Find Out Who You Are, and Be True No Matter What

College is a period of unavoidable self-discovery. Once you figure out who you are, what you want, what you love, and what brings you joy, commit. From this point on, do not try to hide parts of yourself or try to downplay your unique qualities — you are who you are, and that’s all there is to it.

If you are true to yourself, people who can’t handle who you are and/or don’t like who you are will remove themselves from your life. You don’t even have to lift a finger — they’ll do it for you.

Build a Spiritual Foundation

There is no doubt that people all over the world find strength in faith. A spiritual foundation — religious or otherwise, as long as it’s positive — gives people strength to stay in tune with themselves and on a positive path. Surrounding yourself with positivity is Kryptonite for the negative.

Always Move With Integrity and Positivity

People who are negative only talk about negative things. They can be very pessimistic and whiny. Allowing yourself to move with honesty and positivity will reveal to you the friends who you want around and the acquaintances who need to be on their way.

This is the beginning to revealing the negativity around you and getting rid of it. It is very important to hold yourself above everyone else. No one else’s happiness is more important than your own, and no one else’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health is more important than your own. Be outstanding to yourself always, no excuses.
