Do Your Pet a Favor and Get a DNA Test
Everyone knows that I love my dog, Bruiser. I’ve written about him before in different articles to bring doggy awareness about them living happy and healthy lives. Now I am back with a new opportunity for your pups! Knowing your background–i.e. where your mom and dad are from and what diseases are common in your family has saved a lot of lives just by taking precautionary steps. Why shouldn’t we know the heritage for our dogs as well in order to take these steps for them? I may have found the answer, and it is a lot cheaper than you could have expected!

I’ve had Bruiser for a little over 7 years now. My family and I watched him grow from a 9-week old pup to a rambunctious, if not a tad bit spoiled, little man. Bruiser is a miniature pinscher. Whenever I had a behavioral question, I would always look up his breed and it related back to him to a T. Now I realized that dogs have different personalities, no matter what their breed, but something happened that made me question just what Bruiser’s background was made of.
After work, I was parking in my apartment complex when I saw a woman who was walking her dog, a min pin. I told her I had a min pin as well and she simply said “yeah, they’re the shit, huh” and walked off. Of course, I completely agreed, but I noticed her pooch looked quite a bit different than mine. And then I realized that Bruiser may not be a pure breed min pin. What do you all think?

I love my baby, but it makes me worry that he may develop a health issue that originates from another breed. This is why I would like to get a DNA test for him ASAP.
