Salon Quality Nails for Under $10 [Video]

By  |

Are you living on a budget but need salon quality nails for an interview or event? In this video I head over to Dollar General to get my supplies, and I show you step by step how to do your own acrylic nails. Just like the salons! Your supplies and time won’t cost any more than ten dollars! You’ll never go to nail salon again!

Can’t say I am a fan of acrylics so love the idea of making my nails look like they are acrylic. Have so many colours to choose from, my fridge is stocked with more nail varnish than food! Sim x

    • Dani Gudino

I can’t wear acrylics because of my oily nail beds, they just pop off a day after getting them done which is soooo annoying because I would spend a lot of money on it. This way is so inexpensive so I don’t mind if one chips or completely pops off

  • This is a cute and helpful tutorial for females who ran out of budget but badly need their nails done for an upcoming occasion. I haven’t tried acrylic nails but I might one of these days.

    • Dani Gudino

Thank you!! This was the kind of response I was looking for! Don’t be discouraged if they aren’t perfect the first time. I don’t recommend trying it the night before an event because if it is messy, you’ll be so frustrated with yourself!

  • ive always done my nails myself. I’m not too fond of acrylics as i grow my nails easily

    • Dani Gudino

Nicol I wish I had your nails!! Mine are too thin and forever chipping!

  • Hannah GeeGee ʚϊɞ

I’m not too sure how well i would do acrylics, but i love doing a mani and polish. i still love the luxury of going to a salon every so often though.

    • Dani Gudino

Hannah, it’s definitely going to take practice! I wasn’t amazing my first time either, but if you are on a budget, I swear this will save you a ton!

  • Sin Yee

Wow!!! This is great. Thanks for sharing. Shared to my friends.

  • Maria Mercedes

I usually do my own nails and this is a very helpful guide for me. I need to practice painting my hands thought.

    • Dani Gudino

Thank you for watching Maria! Let me know how your practicing goes, and post a picture in your reply :)

  • Pal Raine

Here in the Philippines, if you want your nail done properly..go to a salon, it will just cost you only PHp100($2.29) for both hands.

    • Dani Gudino

Wow, that’s incredible!! The average price here is $30.00-$60.00 depending on where you go and if you have any art.

  • Ling Tan

ooh you made it look so simple! but knowing myself, I’d still be able to make a mess of it all!

    • Dani Gudino

Ling don’t say that!!! Your first time is going to be a little messy but I promise you’ll get the hang of it. The best piece of advice I can give you is make sure you file the acrylics down enough so it’s nice and level, and then buff it so it’s smooth. If not, you’ll have a lot of imperfections. And make sure you give you nail polish extra time to dry!

  • Following this tutorial would save you a lot compared to going to a salon. You still get the same quality.

    • Dani Gudino

That’s right! Thanks for getting the point :)

My wife does not really use acrylic nails. She has a trusty lady at her favorite salon to do her manicure and pedicures, and the cost is definitely less than $5. – Fred

    • Dani Gudino

Hey Fred, your wife is very lucky!

  • I get my Mani and Pedi for around $20. I don’t do acrylics since they damage my nails.

    • Dani Gudino

Amanda, you’re right. Acrylics too often make my nails thin, fragile and sensitive. It’s definitely something I only do when I’m trying to impress

  • This is another easy way to do mani and pedi in short period of time. But this is for emergency purpose only. The normal way is good and healthy.

    • Dani Gudino

I promise this way is good and healthy too! And cheaper!

  • Tiffany Yong

This will definitely require practise! especially for the other hand~ The problem with nails is how one hand will be so much better than the other due to our writing hand.

    • Dani Gudino

This is true @tiffanyyong:disqus! When I do my nails, I usually make it easy for myself and keep it a solid color. If I’m feeling fancy, I’ll sponge some glitter on it haha

  • Kelly Chin

This is wise, time and cost saving. Now I can try it at home. Thanks for the tips

    • Dani Gudino

  • Fatemah Sajwani

Thanks for such a cost saving idea I prefer doing my mani pedis at home personally.

    • Dani Gudino

      You’re welcome!!!!
