Nobody likes to admit that they’re growing older, but unfortunately it happens to us all at some point. Identify The Masks You Use

By masks, we don’t mean the face masks you’re supposed to slather on to make your wrinkles disappear. We mean the masks that we use to hide our age, and usually, they make us look ridiculous. Do you wear your daughter’s clothes? Do you cover your face in makeup an inch thick? The problem with using masks to cover our age is that clinging on to physical youth will lead to the reliance of other people’s approval. Women’s sense of beauty becomes too dependent on external sources, rather than internally.

Speak to Yourself Like a Friend

Take a second to listen to your inner dialogue. Do you constantly put yourself down by telling yourself how wrinkly/saggy/useless/ugly you are? Stop right now! These put-downs are toxic to our nervous system, and you probably don’t even know you’re doing it most of the time. Speak to yourself like you would a good friend – you wouldn’t speak to her like that! Respect yourself.

What is Old?

Hey, what is old anyway? Where did this image of ‘old’ come from? You probably made your own image up of what old was when you were younger. But as you got older, the younger people seemed. You’re only as old as you feel/tell yourself you are!

Make a List

Make a bucket list of things you’d like to do, and give yourself a timeframe to get them done. What would you like to have done by the time you’re 40, 50, 60, and so on? You don’t have to go crazy with things like bungee jumps and skydives if you don’t want to; it could simply be learning how to make the perfect cake, or sewing a pretty blanket for your granddaughter.

Take Care of Yourself

Just because you’ve realised you’re now a little older, you shouldn’t stop taking care of yourself! The most admirable mature ladies stay fashionable and beauty-conscious forever. If you don’t have a clue about that stuff, there are plenty of books, magazines, and articles on the internet for you to read. Keep up a good skin care routine and include extras like Anti aging eye cream to make the most of your skin, eat well, give up smoking and any other bad habits, and try to get some daily exercise. Pick clothes that flatter you too!

Become a Mentor

Now that you’re older, you probably have children and grandchildren. You can become a great mentor for them and teach them some valuable life lessons! Teaching people will keep you young.

Enjoy Your Life

Your life isn’t over because you’ve gained a few wrinkles and a grey hair or two. Focus on the positive things in your life, and enjoy it to the fullest!
