My name is Najya Williams and I am an undergraduate at Harvard College in Cambridge, MA. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., I aim to pursue a career in Pediatric and Neonatal Medicine at the Children's National Medical Center as a neonatologist. A youth advocate and social activist, I have committed to participating in numerous poetry- and spoken-word driven events to shed light on issues present in my community that many consider taboo. I was recently recognized by The Harvard Foundation and The Black Men’s Forum for the work I have cultivated and continue to maintain within the Black community on Harvard’s campus. On the heels of the publication of my debut poetry chapbook, Cotton, I look ahead to continue making a difference in not only my community, but the nation as a whole, one word at a time.
