We bought this to replace the old ice cream maker like it that finally bit the dust. It works fine. we made a few batches of ice cream with it and 2 out of the three came out great. It was perfect , though soft, and tasted amazing. There was one batch where my husband expected it to stop and it didn't and the ice cream got a little weird. So we check it now. It does feel a little more flimsy than the old one but I expect it to last hopefully a few years. Nothing is made like it used to be.

$34.99! Makes a lot of ice cream and is much cheaper than the other two types of ice cream makers (freeze a bowl in the freezer for several hours and then put it in a machine that turns the bowl or the kind that come with a built in compressor to chill the bowl as it's being churned). The compressor type of machines were very large over $150 and the pre freeze the bowl types were $70 and up and were around the same size as this overall. I have minimal freezer space so the pre freeze bowl type would have been a pain bc I'd have to reorganize the freezer, which is usually full, each time. The down fall of this is you're going to need about 3 small bags or maybe a couple medium bags of ice each time to place in the bucket, so about an extra $5-$7 in ice each time. I have a GE Opal nugget ice maker and to make a 1/3 of a canister of ice cream it required 1.5 full bins of ice and it took longer than it would normally take for the ice cream to firm up. Most people aren't going to stick with making homemade ice cream frequently after the first few months so I saw no point in spending over double for an item.

Frozen yogurt is so expensive and I bought this to make my own and was very pleased with the results! I put 1 whole milk large Greek yogurt, 1 1/2 cups of heavy whipping cream, 1/2 whole milk, 1 tablespoon of vanilla, 2 bananas and mashed them up with some monk fruit and agave and cocoa powder - made sure mixture was smooth and chilled the container and put crushed ice(just used the crushed ice setting on my freezer, put it around my canister with layered salt (about a cup of idolized salt) and whallaaaa yummy, sugar free yogurt after 1/2 hour later! No fricking corn syrup or corn starch all those nasty cheap fillers they are putting in EVERYTHING. This is so the way to go!
