Not Waterproof
I would rate these binoculars as average. The optics are fair. I do like the eyepiece and objective lens covers. They are attached to the body so you cannot lose them.The add states that the binoculars are “waterproof”. This is very vague as it has no IP rating stating how water resistant it is. I made the assumption that they are rain resistant and tested this by lightly spraying the binoculars with water. The water penetrated the unit and ended up having water on the inside of the binoculars. Water droplets can be seen on the inside of the lenses.

I ordered these 12x42 binoculars to replace an old pair of 7x35s for greater magnification and easier focusing.
They appear to be a simple pair of binoculars with basic functionality. To test the focus, I counted 34 ridges on the focusing wheel from full left (near) to full right (far). When I focused on a star (infinity), the wheel only turned 6 ridges from full left (near), wasting the rest of the focus range. The diopter wheel has 10 ridges from full minus to full plus. When I set the diopter to adjust the right side, I had to turn it 4.5 of 5 ridges toward minus. All this was with new glasses that correct my vision to 20-20. It appears that this pair was manufactured incorrectly, severely limiting its adjustability. Near focus was limited to around 50 feet.
To test the magnification, I photographed some home siding directly and through the binoculars. The photo of the siding through the binoculars measured 5.8 mm wide. In the direct photo, 7 pieces of siding measured the same 5.8mm. The actual magnification of these 12x42 binoculars is only 7, not 12.
Once focused, the actual image is aligned and clear. They weigh 17.9 ounces with the strap. The case is OK, except that one side of the Velcro stitching missed the Velcro, so it’s coming loose.
Overall, these are useful binoculars, but they are poorly manufactured and don’t live up to their description or provide good value even at $40. I don’t recommend them.
