Miss Millennia Magazine: Tell me a little about yourself!

Samantha Saliba: My name is Sammi Saliba and I’m a student and lifestyle blogger living in Chicago, IL. I am currently in my third year at Loyola University Chicago studying Public Relations and Marketing. I’m also the Co-President of Her Campus chapter at Loyola, a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Vice President of Loyola’s Communications Honors Society, intern, and freelancer. I aspire to one day own her own fashion PR firm in California and start a non-profit for sex-trafficking victims.

M3: Why did you start The Ambitious Life of a City Girl?

Samantha Saliba the ambitious life of a city girl

SS: I always admired beauty and fashion bloggers and wanted to start my own, but I didn’t know how or if I had the time. While I was studying abroad in Rome after my freshmen year of college, I had insomnia and wasn’t able to sleep a lot of the time. So, I spent hours in the school’s library working on what would eventually become The Ambitious Life of a City Girl. It started off as just a fashion blog, but it gradually became more lifestyle and beauty.

M3: What is your favorite part about blogging?

SS: My favorite part about blogging is the ability to be creative and share my voice and advice with others. You would initially think, who cares about what I have to say? Well, it turns out that a lot of people care and are interested! Networking is a great part of it too. I’ve met so many important people and bloggers through my blog!

M3: How is balancing blogging and going to school?

SS: I’m not going to lie, it’s definitely tough. But I think that if you really want to blog and go to school, it’s doable. It’s important for me personally to set a schedule for myself and plan out my time wisely. It allows me to stay on top of things and devote my time to everything that I do.

M3: Do you think it is possible to do what you love in this day and age?

SS: I think it’s now more possible than ever. We’re so lucky to be living in a world today where creativity and youth thrive. It’s important to take advantage of that while it lasts. There are so many resources and people out there willing to help you be successful!

M3: What’s your biggest inspiration?

SS: My biggest inspiration is my little sister, as cheesy as that may be. I strive every day to be the best big sister I can be and to be a good example for her! I also just want to be the best that I can be for myself.

M3: Any Advice for a girl who want to start their own blog?

SS: Do it! Don’t hold back. If anything, I wish I would’ve started mine sooner. You’re going to make mistakes along the way, but it’s a learning process and you’ll gradually become better at it. There’s no reason to go for your dreams right now and not waste any time wondering “what if.” Just do it! At the same time, make sure you decide how much time you want to dedicate to your blog beforehand. It can be either a big time commitment or a small hobby. Decide that before you start.

M3: Top Advice for a Millennial Woman?

SS: Never let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. Prove them wrong. Always give 110% in life, school, work, and relationships. I promise that all of your hard work will pay off in the long run.
